Ex-Tottenham star suggests that club should sign Nuno’s former player

In an interview with the Sunday People (print edition, page 56, 04/07/21) ex-Tottenham winger Darren Anderton has urged Tottenham to sign Wolves striker Raul Jimenez.

The Mexcian striker excelled under Nuno Espirito Santo and Anderton thinks that the Portuguese should raid his old club this summer.

Anderton spoke very highly of the 30-year-old striker: “I would love for Nuno to bring Raul Jimenez in.

“He’s different class – My, what a player. He has that horrific injury but managers usually bring in a player or two from their old club. Fingers crossed there’s an opportunity.”

Jimenez missed most of the season after a traumatic head injury but is set to be fit again for pre-season after his head fracture that occurred eight months ago.

Tottenham’s current striker Harry Kane has been consistently linked with a move away from North London this summer.

There is no doubting Jiminez’s ability, his numbers and performances for Wolves stand out. He also has similar qualities to Kane in the sense that he can drop into pockets and link the ball with teammates well.

Would he be a fit Kane replacement? No one can truly replace Kane, obviously, but Jiminez would no doubt be a signing most fans would welcome.
