‘Exactly what Spurs need’ – Robinson raves about target’s performance

Paul Robinson has waxed lyrical about rumoured Tottenham target Milan Skriniar after his solid display for Slovakia in their 2-1 win over Poland in their European Championship opener on Monday.

Tottenham were heavily linked with a move for Skriniar during last summer’s transfer window but the move failed to materialise.

On the back of his failed move to North London, the 26-year-old has enjoyed an impressive campaign for the Nerrazuri, playing an influential part in their Scudetto triumph.

Strengthening at centre-half is reportedly one of Tottenham’s priorities this summer and it has been rumoured that the club could make another attempt to land Skriniar, who now has just two years left on his contract with the Serie A club.

It has been well documented that Inter have to raise significant funds through player sales this summer to offset the losses incurred due to the pandemic.

After watching Skriniar’s solid display at the back and his brilliantly-taken match-winning goal against Polland, Robinson is desperate for Spurs to snap up the centre-half.

The former Tottenham goalkeeper told Football Insider about Skriniar’s display at Krestovsky Stadium in St Petersburg: “He was nothing short of brilliant against Poland.

“You can see that he is a leader. He marshalled that back line and was an example to others. He stood out head and shoulders above the rest.

“It was not just in a defensive sense either. He was a threat going forward as well. His touch and finish for the goal was incredible. It was like an accomplished striker’s.

“He is exactly what Spurs need – a world-class centre-half. I would welcome him with open arms to Spurs. What a player.”
