‘Exciting’ – Eric Dier reacts to Gareth Bale links in his Tottenham press conference

Tottenham Hotspur centre-back, Eric Dier has now reacted to the Gareth Bale transfer rumours in his pre-match press conference this afternoon.

Spurs are set to play Lokomotiv Plovdiv in Bulgaria tomorrow night as part of their Europa League knockout qualifiers.

However, the game risks being overshadowed by the recent speculation that former Tottenham legend, Gareth Bale may now be making a sensational return to the club.

Sky Sports reported this morning that Tottenham are ‘edging closer’ to agreeing a deal with Real Madrid over a potential loan move for Bale.

The Welshman left North London for sunny Spain back in 2013, justifying his decision by winning four Champions League titles with Los Blancos in seven years.

Unsurprisingly, Bale’s name came up in the pre-match press conference today as journalists asked Dier to react to the rumours.

Dier said (Football London): “I’m sure from the fans’ point of view it’s very exciting to be linked with a player of that level. It doesn’t affect me personally. It’s not the first time there’s been a player linked with going here or there.”

One journalist also asked Dier whether he and his Spurs teammates had been talking about the Bale news, to which he replied: “No, nothing on the WhatsApp group. Obviously there’s a lot of speculation and it’s not for me to speculate on.”
