‘Exciting times’ – Robinson claims Spurs star looks ‘a different player’ under Conte

Paul Robinson has claimed that Harry Kane looks like a player transformed under Antonio Conte and suggested the future is set to be pretty exciting for Tottenham if the striker pens a new deal.

Kane has now found his scoring boots under Conte and the striker has also drawn praise from the Spurs boss for the work he is doing off the ball to help the team defensively.

Multiple sources over the last week have revealed that the England captain is loving life under the Italian. The Athletic reported that the 28-year-old feels fitter than he thought was possible in less than two months of working with the former Inter boss.

Meanwhile, Spurs ‘insider’ John Wenham claimed the striker has let the Tottenham hierarchy know he is ‘very very happy’ to be working with Conte and some sources within the club are even confident he will sign a new contract.

Robinson believes the speculation over Kane’s future will only dissipate once the striker puts pen to paper on a new deal.

When asked about the reports regarding a new contract for Kane, the former Spurs goalkeeper told Football Insider: “I have always said the only way this (transfer speculation) is going to go away is if he signs a new contract.

“I think now he’s back among the goals, he’s happy playing again. It looks like he’s enjoying playing under Antonio Conte.

“You can’t say that from experience because you don’t know but you can say what you see. On the pitch, he looks like a different player.

“He is back between the posts, he is getting service and he is scoring goals. For him to sign a new contract there, people may laugh but the future does look very bright at Spurs.

“I expect the manager is going to get a lot of money to spend. Maybe not in January but in the summer. There will be players he wants to move on as well.

“The players he is going to attract are certainly going to improve that squad. If Harry Kane commits himself and is part of that, there are really exciting times ahead for Tottenham.”

After what happened in the summer, I do not think Kane or his entourage will be in any hurry to sign a new contract with Spurs. The striker would want to wait and see if the team continues to progress under Conte and if the club shows ambition in the January transfer window.
