Exclusive: Former Tottenham right-back offers his opinion on Pedro Porro

They may be turning out for Tottenham more than two decades apart, but there are many similarities between Stephen Carr and Pedro Porro. Speaking exclusively to The Spurs Web, Carr discusses his modern-day counterpart.

After making his big breakthrough in the 1996/97 campaign, Stephen Carr would go on to be Tottenham‘s first-choice right-back for many years, before leaving the club in 2004.

His adventurous attacking play, combined with an incredible work ethic and gritty defending, would make Carr a beloved fan-favourite over the years.

Now, Tottenham have a new right-back to adore, with Pedro Porro proving to be a key cog in Ange Postecoglou‘s expansive system.

What does Stephen Carr think of Pedro Porro?

Stephen Carr spoke exclusively to The Spurs Web, thanks to BoyleSports who offer the latest Premier League odds, and we asked him how he rates Postecoglou’s preferred right-back.

He said: “Pedro Porro has done well, he’s a good fit under Postecoglou and he has impressed under difficult circumstances because there is a lot of pressure.”

Delving deeper into that concept, Carr added: “There’s a lot of pressure on all the players now at Tottenham, they have spent plenty of money and they have the infrastructure to compete with the top clubs in the world.

“With the training ground, the stadium and the manager there is no excuse not to perform and the results have been too inconsistent.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Pedro Porro has really proven his worth this season, and he’s perfect for Postecoglou’s system. Carr is right, though, there is so much pressure on everyone at Tottenham now, but I think we’ve got a great set of players already, and they’re only going to improve, Porro included.
