Stephen Carr spent 12 years at Tottenham Hotspur, but it could all have been very different had he joined Arsenal as a youngster. In an exclusive interview with The Spurs Web, Carr explained why he opted to sign for Spurs all those years ago.
With 265 appearances under his belt for the Lilywhites, and plenty of iconic moments, Stephen Carr is rightly regarded as a Tottenham legend.
Carr moved over to England at the age of 15 to join Spurs, and made his Premier League debut less than three years later.
He would remain in North London until the summer of 2004, spending roughly 12 years at Tottenham.

Stephen Carr spoke exclusively to The Spurs Web, thanks to BoyleSports who offer the latest Premier League odds. We asked him what it is about the club that drew him in for the long term, and he revealed why he wanted to sign for Spurs over Arsenal.
He said: “When I joined I had the choice to play for Spurs or Arsenal, but I just felt Spurs was very homely. At that time the training ground at Mill Hill wasn’t as fancy as Arsenal’s training ground, but I just found it more real. I ended up staying for 12 years and I loved every minute of it.

“I was around a squad that had a lot of managers come and go at Tottenham but the fans were unbelievable. We had a quality stadium, too. Obviously, now it’s a completely different level, it’s gone ridiculous, but it just felt homely for me. I felt at home coming from Dublin, I just felt the transition was quite easy.”

Stephen Carr made the right choice and built an incredible career for himself at Tottenham over the years. He clearly has such a strong affinity for the club still, too, which just shows how much of a connection he developed during his career.
