Exclusive: ‘Typical Tottenham’ – Stephen Carr comments on ‘strange’ defeat to Fulham

In an exclusive interview with The Spurs Web, former Tottenham defender Stephen Carr discussed the club’s recent defeat to Fulham, and explained where he thinks the Lilywhites went wrong.

Tottenham had a fantastic opportunity to close the gap on Aston Villa in the Premier League table last weekend, but they spurned that chance by falling to a dismal defeat to Fulham on Saturday evening.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side barely even turned up for the game, and are now three points behind Villa, who they beat the week previous.

They will now have to wait until the international break is over to try and bounce back.

Where did Spurs go wrong against Fulham?

Stephen Carr spoke exclusively to The Spurs Web, thanks to BoyleSports who offer the latest Premier League odds. We asked Carr where he thought Spurs went wrong in that game against Fulham, and suggested the international break could do the Lilywhites good.

He said: “Tottenham’s 3-0 defeat at Fulham is a strange one because they got such a good result against Aston Villa, but Fulham away is not an easy game. It’s typical Tottenham really, we get a great result away at Villa and you think the team will push on, but then you get a bad result.

“But it is still all to play for. It will be between Tottenham and Villa for fourth place and you can’t afford to have many more of those results. Even a point would be massive at this stage.

“Something wasn’t right against Fulham, but who knows? I’m sure they’ll work on it after the break which might’ve come at the right time to regroup before the final push at the end of the season.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I don’t quite know why, but the players did not seem to have the same intensity and energy we have come to expect of them. It was such a strange performance, especially when you consider how much momentum we should have had after the win over Villa.
