Tottenham Hotspur look set to welcome back another first-team player this month as it was announced today that Ben Davies had finally returned to training.
Davies only managed one game under Jose Mourinho when the new head coach first came in before the Welshman picked up a nasty injury and has been out ever since.
The return is extremely welcome too, as Spurs are now short on left-backs following the loan spell for Danny Rose.
Young Japhet Tanganga, a right-sided inexperienced centre-back, has been filling in on the left side on more than one occasion. Spurs also have new signing Ryan Sessegnon as an option.
Jose Mourinho revealed in his press conference that, if all goes well, Ben Davies should be ready for the Aston Villa game in the Premier League. That match comes on February 16, Tottenham’s next match in the league.
However, the Spurs lads will be able to experience the first Premier League winter break between the Southampton game tomorrow and that Villa match.
Jonathan Veal reports that Jose said:
Ben Davies expected to be ready for the Villa game. He will train during the winter break: “If everything goes well he will be ready for the Villa game.”
