‘Expected to stay’ – Sky reporter provides update on Euro 2020 star linked with Spurs

Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas has revealed that rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target, Mikkel Damsgaard, is expected to stay at Sampdoria.

Tottenham are set to strengthen at right-back, with Emerson Royal’s capture set to be announced in the next few hours.

The North Londoners were said also hoping to add a winger and a central midfielder to their squad before the transfer window closes (Football.London).

Sources have claimed that Nuno Espirito Santo plans on employing a formation with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min as a pairing in attack if the club are successful in adding another winger to their squad.

Wolves winger Adama Traore was thought to be at the top of Spurs’ wishlist but according to the latest reports, the pacy winger is now unlikely to make a deadline day move.

If Thomas’ latest update is to be believed, another attacker on Tottenham’s radar, Damsgaard, also looks unlikely to arrive in North London.

Earlier in the summer, Spurs were installed as the favourites to snap up the Denmark international, who demonstrated his quality in the European Championship over the summer and was described as one of the stars of the tournament.

The 21-year-old now appears set to remain at Sampdoria after reporting for international duty.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Emerson Royal is the only player we sign before the deadline, I believe that would leave our squad short of options in the attacking areas. Ideally, we need another wing-forward or a striker to balance the squad. I do not consider a centre midfielder as big a priority.
