‘Eyes closed’ – James Maddison hits back at John Terry after Chelsea win comment

James Maddison has asked John Terry if he had his eyes closed when it was eleven vs eleven after the Chelsea legend took to social media to celebrate the Blues’ 4-1 win over Tottenham.

Even though the scoreline suggests that Chelsea cruised to a win, that was anything but the reality. The away side could not live with Ange Postecoglou’s men for the first 30 minutes and only came into the game after Cristian Romero was sent off.

Even after Spurs were reduced to nine men ten minutes into the second period, the away side still struggled to control the game, with Tottenham coming close to getting an equaliser on a couple of occasions before the Blues scored twice in injury time.

Tottenham have been praised for their bravery and the character they showed despite being on the end of a heavy defeat (Gary Neville podcast).

James Maddison hits back at John Terry

When Terry took to Instagram to admit that he went all out to celebrate Chelsea’s win at their rivals’ home ground, Maddison bit back at the 42-year-old.

He wrote: ‘You have your eyes closed when it was 11 v 11 first 15 JT?’

Even though Chelsea won the game, there is no doubt that they came out of the game with a lot more question marks, given how they struggled to score against a nine-men side which was throwing bodies forward for much of the second half.
