‘FA are an utter joke’ – Some Spurs fans react as Eric Dier receives misconduct charge

The FA have now formally charged Eric Dier with misconduct following his antics in the stands against Norwich City back in March (BBC).

The incident occurred following the conclusion of an FA Cup match between Spurs and the Canaries, with the latter winning on penalties.

Following the full-time whistle, the disappointed Tottenham team retreated down the tunnel, although Eric Dier took a rather alarming detour.

Upon spotting his brother in the stands, the Spurs man decided to leap over the advertising boards and climb up to offer his assistance (Guardian).

Upon reaching his brother, Dier pulled him away from an apparent confrontation and the stewards escorted the brothers away from the fans.

Despite this happening on March 4 before the COVID-19 lockdown, Dier has now been hit with an FA misconduct charge for breaking Rule E3. He has until 8 May 2020 to respond.

Journalist, Jonathan Veal, has warned that this could possibly come with a substantial ban for the England international.

Here’s how some Spurs fans reacted on Twitter:
