FA Cup Third Round Draw: Spurs handed away tie

Tottenham Hotspur have been drawn against Middlesbrough in the third round of the FA Cup.

The tie will take place away from home at the Riverside Stadium and is scheduled to be played over the weekend of 4th-5th January 2020.

Jose Mourinho will come up against former Spur, Jonathan Woodgate who is the boss at Boro and his assistant is none other than the legendary Robbie Keane.

Spurs will be looking to do better than last season in the competition having thrashed Tranmere Rovers 7-0 in the third round, only to put in a terrible performance in the following round at Crystal Palace where Mauricio Pochettino’s men suffered a 2-0 defeat.

With Tottenham having already crashed out of the Carabao Cup at the hands of League Two outfit Colchester United and finding themselves a staggering twenty points behind Liverpool in the Premier League, the FA Cup is likely to be the club’s best chance of winning silverware this season.

Fans will be desperate to end the eleven year wait for a trophy, having last tasted success in 2008 following an extra time victory over rivals Chelsea in the League Cup.
