FA Cup third round draw – When is it, how to watch and who is involved

The FA Cup returns this weekend for the second round of the competition, meaning Premier League clubs will be getting ready to find out who they could come up against in the third round early next year.

A host of clubs across the football pyramid will be battling to secure their name in the hat for the third round of England’s most famous and prestigious cup competition.

Tottenham will be looking to add to their past success in this year’s edition of the competition, having hoisted the iconic trophy on eight separate occasions.

However, Spurs last tasted FA Cup glory in 1991 and haven’t lifted a major trophy since 2008, which has put the pressure on manager Antonio Conte to right the club’s silverware drought.

With clubs in England’s top two divisions set to enter the competition proper this weekend, here is what you need to know ahead of the FA Cup third round draw.

When is the FA Cup third round draw?

The draw for the third round of the competition is set to take place on Monday, December 6 during the coverage of the Hertfordshire derby between Boreham Wood and St Albans City.

How to watch the draw?

The aforementioned fixture will be broadcast live on ITV4, with coverage starting at 6.45 pm. However, a time for when the draw will begin has not yet been confirmed.

Live updates of the draw can also be followed via the FA Cup’s official Twitter feed.

Who is in it?

The 20 winners of this weekend’s second-round fixtures will secure their names in the hat for the third round draw.

The remaining 44 spots will be filled by the 20 Premier League teams and 24 Championship sides.

Third round ties are set to take place between Friday, January 7 and Monday, January 10, 2022.
