Fabio Capello explains why he dislikes Julian Nagelsmann amid Spurs links

Former England manager Fabio Capello has criticised Tottenham Hotspur managerial target Julian Nagelsmann because he felt the 35-year-old acted like he knew everything.

Nagelsmann is one of the most exciting young managers in football right now, but is currently unemployed after losing his job at Bayern Munich recently.

The young coach previously did fine work with Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig, earning plaudits not only in Germany but around Europe.

He is known for playing attractive, attacking football and helping to develop exciting talent.

Since losing his job at Bayern, Nagelsmann has regularly been touted as the favourite to land the vacant managerial role at Tottenham (Football Insider).

However, there is also interest from Chelsea, who apparently made contact with Nagelsmann already in the wake of Graham Potter being sacked (Fabrizio Romano).

Clearly, there is a lot of demand for Nagelsmann’s services and the promising coach is likely to have a new job at a big club come the summer.

According to Capello, however, Nagelsmann is not someone he is a fan of, despite the manager’s impressive work.

Capello told Sky Italia during his punditry duties for the Manchester City v Bayern Munich match (11/4/23): “I didn’t like Nagelsmann very much. He gave the impression of already knowing everything at 35. But he was doing well.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I think there is naturally a tendency to be wary of a talented young manager coming into the game and doing as well as Nagelsmann has done.

It can make the more established coaches feel like he hasn’t earned his success because of his age, but Nagelsmann is clearly a brilliant manager regardless of how long he has been doing this.
