Fabio Paratici admits he ‘often’ speaks to rumoured Spurs target

Tottenham’s managing director of football, Fabio Paratici has admitted that he keeps in close touch with rumoured Spurs target Leonardo Bonucci.

Bonucci is winding back the clock along with his club and international teammate Giorgio Chiellini in the European Championships, with their partnership being a crucial reason behind the Azzuri’s progression to the final.

Previous reports from Italy (Calcio Mercato and Tuttomercatoweb) have suggested Paratici could look to bring the 34-year-old to North London this summer, with the Spurs managing director said to believe that Bonucci could play a vital part in a three-man defence next season.

Paratici looks to be trying to solve the team’s issues at centre-back, with sources suggesting that the North London club have submitted bids for Sevilla’s Jules Kounde and Bolgona’s Takehiro Tomiyasu

Whether the 48-year-old looks to reunite with Bonucci at Spurs remains to be seen but he has admitted that he is close friends with the Italian international.

Paratici told Sky Italia (via Corriere dello Sport): “They are my friends and they are special to me. I talk often with Bonucci.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While Bonucci could potentially do a very good job for us even at 34 years of age, I do not expect us to go in for him. The Italian has three years left on his contract at Juve, which means Juve will demand a decent fee, which I cannot see us paying for a player who will have no resale value.
