Fabio Paratici already describes 20-year-old Spurs man as a ‘complete player’

Fabio Paratici has revealed that Tottenham are keeping a close eye on Destiny Udogie’s progression at Udinese and described the left wing-back as a ‘complete’ player.

Spurs have a total of eight first-team players out on loan in addition to young players like Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett who are plying their trade at Preston North End and Portsmouth respectively.

Another promising youngster in Harvey White joined Derby County on loan on transfer deadline day while summer signing Djed Spence completed a temporary move to Rennes, and Paratici admitted that it is important for these youngsters to get competitive action under their belt.

When asked about the host of players that are currently out on loan, the Spurs managing director of football told the club’s official website: “We have to divide it because we have some players, five or six players, that are more senior, are not older but senior, 24, 25, 26 and the other five or six players are really younger, so like (Dane) Scarlett or (Troy) Parrott.

“I think some of them have to develop, to have minutes for their career, to grow up and to also to come back home and the others need minutes because they have to play because we don’t have space in our squad in that moment.”

One player who has particularly excelled on loan this season is Udogie, who Spurs snapped up last summer on the back of his breakthrough campaign in 2021-22 before loaning him back to Udinese.

Paratici hinted that the 20-year-old could be ready to make an impact at Tottenham next season.

When asked about Udogie, the 50-year-old responded: “Yes, we watch every game so scouts, they’re responsible for loans, so we follow him, he is doing very well, he is playing every game so I think this is the right way for him to improve and to be ready for next season.

“He is a wing-back, he has a really, really, really good left foot, offensive phases are really good, he creates a lot of opportunities to score, make assists so he’s a complete player.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Paratici deserves a lot of credit for the Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie deals as both of their values have gone up considerably since we signed them. Those are the sort of gems we need to continue to snap up, given that we cannot compete with the financial muscle of the likes of Chelsea and Man City.
