Fabio Paratici opens up on Conte hiring, Nuno sacking, and if it will help Kane

Tottenham Hotspur pulled the trigger on Nuno Espirito Santo’s sacking this week, wasting no time in replacing him with serial winner Antonio Conte.

However, with the former Chelsea boss still waiting on his work visa, the media duties for today’s press conference ahead of Tottenham vs Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa Conference League fell to Managing Director of Football, Fabio Paratici.

The Italian started his press conference with a message of thanks to Nuno and his staff for their four months of work in North London, claiming it was not an easy decision.

He also reiterated the statement that Tottenham spoke with Conte in the summer but had to move on with their search as the time was not right for the former Inter Milan boss.

Paratici said (Football London): “First of all I would like to thank Nuno and his staff for the four months. When you have to take this decision it’s not easy.

“Now is the right time because we speak once with Antonio this summer but was not the right time as was involved emotionally with Inter.”

Of course, Paratici and Conte have worked together before in Italy at Juventus and the Managing Director of Football had plenty of nice words to say about his new head coach.

Paratici added: “This club supports everybody, not just the coach. We have to work, to be focus, be committed to be involved with this project. This is what we can do, we have to do. I think we can do the best.

“I worked with Antonio before. I know him very well, he’s a hard worker. A lot of passion and knowledge, one of the best coaches in the world. We have to work hard and be committed.”

Finally, Paratici was asked whether the new appointment would help a struggling Harry Kane who has just one Premier League goal so far this season.

Paratici said: “We try to do the best for this club every day. It’s not just about Harry but everyone else.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

This decision is going to help the entire squad as a whole. The starting players will have more direction, there will be more goals and it offers a fresh chance for the fringe players to impress a new manager.
