Fabio Paratici plays down Tottenham transfer link with Serie A pair

Fabio Paratici has played down the prospect of Tottenham Hotspur making a move for two Serie A players.

Spurs’ managing director of football was speaking yesterday at the Festival dello Sport 2021 (17:00) when he was asked about speculation surrounding the North Londoners and Inter Milan pair Milan Skriniar and Marcelo Brozovic.

Skriniar was said to have been high on Tottenham’s radar in the past when in September of last year, Steve Hitchen was caught on camera in Italy amid speculation of a move for the Slovakian.

Calciomercato claimed earlier this month that Paratici was keen to revive a deal for the 26-year-old defender.

The Gazzetta dello Sport featured a report last week in which they suggested that Spurs were reportedly keen on signing midfielder Brozovic, who is set to be out of contract at the end of the season.

Paratici has distanced himself from the transfer speculation involving the pair.

He was quoted by Fabrizio Romano as telling the event: “Rumours around about Milan Skriniar to Spurs are not accurate. We’re not working to sign Marcelo Brozovic [as free agent], he’s Inter player and it’s not even a topic for us”.

Tottenham fans are certainly not used to such a senior person within the club speaking so openly about the club’s transfer aspirations, having previously witnessed radio silence during the tenures of the likes of Baldini, Comolli and Hitchen.
