Fabio Paratici reveals one big change he has seen in Spurs squad this season

Fabio Paratici has revealed that he has noticed a big improvement in the team spirit at Tottenham over the last couple of months.

The Tottenham managing director of football can be fairly happy with his work in his first transfer window at the North London club.

The Italian managed to significantly reduce the average age of the squad by moving on the likes of Erik Lamela, Toby Alderweireld, Moussa Sissoko and Serge Aurier while bringing in some top young talent through the door.

However, when asked about what pleases him most about the make-up of the squad, Paratici stated that it was the spirit and togetherness that the players are showing in matches and training.

Team spirit was something that appeared to be lacking at Tottenham last season, with Hugo Lloris infamously admitting to dressing room divides after the 3-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb.

In fact, it was even rumoured that a revolt from the players is what led to Jose Mourinho’s eventual sacking.

However, Paratici believes that everyone at the club is now working together towards the same objective.

When asked about the squad, the 49-year-old told Tottenham’s official website: “It’s not just one player.

“I think the style and the spirit that this squad showed every game, every team, the spirit is to fight together, to speak to each other, to help together to be a unit to arrive to the target.

“This my feeling when I look at the games and look at training. It’s changed, the spirit.”

From the outside, it does seem like a bit of the feel-good factor that was lost last season, has returned. However, the true test will be when the team goes through a poor run of form.

That is when the togetherness will be tested and cracks might start to appear. So, it is too early to make any sweeping pronouncements about the team spirit.
