Fabrice Muamba reveals Tottenham dream as he sets out on coaching journey

Fabrice Muamba has revealed he dreams of managing Bolton one day and leading them out to face Tottenham after securing a coaching role in the club’s academy.

The 33-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest against Spurs at White Hart Lane during an FA Cup quarter-final tie in 2012 (BBC Sport).

It took 78 minutes to revive his heart after he collapsed on the pitch, which forced his hand in retiring from football later that year.

In his return to football from the coaching side, Muamba is poised to secure a place at former side Bolton as a trainer in their academy this summer.

Muamba has aims of becoming a manager in the near future and wants to return to face Tottenham, where the incident that ended his playing career occurred.

He told The Scottish Sun: “I’m lucky to even still be here. Every day for the last ten years has been a blessing.

“To be back on the grass, kicking a ball at Bolton Wanderers, coaching in their academy, the club I was playing for when they brought me back round, feels fitting. I’m so happy.

“My dream is to one day manage, to be manager of Bolton and take them back to Tottenham, where I had my accident. Wow, that would be written in the stars.

“Now is a great time. It’s been a while and I’ve wanted to get back in and make a contribution to the football club.

“It’ll be nice to help them. I feel I owe them one, I owe the people of Bolton. There’s an unfinished story there.”

This is a great story for Muamba and hopefully he gets to fulfil his goals of getting Bolton back to the Premier League. If that does happen and he is part of the coaching staff, there is no doubt he will receive such a warming reception at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
