Fabrizio Romano claims ‘next week will be important’ for Dele Alli

Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are set to make a decision in the next week over whether Dele Alli can leave the club.

The Athletic journalist David Ornstein said that Dele would like to leave the North Londoners, preferably on a permanent deal, but he has not ruled out the idea of heading out on loan (Ornstein & Chapman podcast).

Romano claimed that Paris Saint-Germain could be an option for the midfielder due to his relationship with Mauricio Pochettino, but the French giants are currently focusing on extending the contracts of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

The 24-year-old has suffered a turbulent season with Jose Mourinho favouring alternative options to the England international, who has often found himself on the bench or overlooked completely.

He has managed just four Premier League appearances during the current campaign, starting the first game of the season against Everton before being replaced at half-time, while coming on as a sub three times since (transfermarkt).

Romano told GiveMeSport: “Pay attention to PSG, I would say yes, because Pochettino has a special relationship with the player, so it can be an option but at the moment there is nothing with PSG.

“PSG are still waiting, and as we said they are focusing on Mbappe and Neymar’s contracts, but for sure, if Dele Alli will have a chance to leave the club in January. PSG will be one of the club’s interested.

“Next week will be important for Dele Alli to understand if he is leaving or not, but for sure, PSG can be an option because of Pochettino.”
