Fabrizio Romano claims Spurs and Chelsea target is expected to transfer this summer

Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is expected to leave the club at the end of the season, with Spurs, Chelsea, and Leicester thought to be among those interested in signing the player.

The highly-rated Georgian has been with Valencia since January 2022 and has quickly become one of the most coveted young goalkeepers in the game since joining the Spanish side.

Mamardashvili has made 33 appearances for the La Liga giants this term (Transfermarkt) and is well-established as the number-one keeper at Valencia.

Football.London reported back in February that Mamardashvili was one of four names on Tottenham’s shortlist to replace Hugo Lloris at the club.

It is thought several Premier League clubs are also keen on signing the stopper, with Leicester City believed to have the strongest interest (90 Min).

The expectation is that Mamardashvili can leave Valencia for around £30 million.

Fabrizio Romano has covered the topic previously, telling Caught Offside that Leicester had already made contact with Mamardashvili’s representatives regarding a potential move in the summer.

Naturally, any move to Leicester is expected to depend on the Foxes retaining their Premier League status.

Now, Romano has an update, which suggests the player is very likely to leave Valencia in the summer, with Spurs among those linked this time around.

He tweeted: “Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, expected to leave Valencia in any case at the end of the season despite contract extension signed few months ago.

“Told Chelsea and Tottenham are just monitoring his development; Leicester met with his agent 10 days ago.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Mamardashvili is a solid goalkeeper who is young, and wouldn’t necessarily break the bank.

If he is available for transfer, we should definitely be firming up our interest ahead of the summer.

I can’t see him going to Leicester given their current plight, so we should be stepping in and making a move for him soon.
