Fabrizio Romano claims Spurs are not convinced about letting player leave

Fabrizio Romano has said that Tottenham Hotspur are not ‘100 per cent convinced’ about offloading Bryan Gil this transfer window.

It seemed until a week ago as though Gil was likely to stay put at Tottenham on the back of his impressive displays over the last month.

However, some sources have suggested over the last few days that the 21-year-old’s situation has changed in light of Spurs’ acquisition of Arnaut Danjuma.

Mucho Deporte claimed a couple of days ago that the winger is desperate to leave Spurs after the Dutchman’s arrival, and revealed that Sevilla had reignited their interest in the player.

The report added that Gil’s preference was to return to Seville despite also attracting interest from Villarreal and Valencia, in addition to French and Italian clubs.

The winger’s father Alfonso Gil has also talked up the possibility of his son returning to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium (Estadio Deportivo) while Vamos Mi Sevilla even asserted on Thursday that Tottenham prefer to sell the winger permanently to Jorge Sampaoli’s side rather than loaning him out.

However, Romano has now contradicted these reports by telling the Last Word on Spurs YouTube Channel that Spurs are not convinced that it would be in their best interest to offload the Spaniard this window.

I can understand why Gil would be desperate to leave in order to get regular game time under his belt. However, I suspect that Conte would want to hold on to the winger despite Danjuma’s arrival, especially since it looks like Lucas Moura might be on his way out over the next few days.
