Fabrizio Romano claims Spurs could reconsider transfer decision on 25-year-old

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Dele Alli could still have a future at Tottenham Hotspur despite the club previously being open to listening to offers for the midfielder.

Reports over recent weeks had indicated that Antonio Conte had told the club’s hierarchy to move Alli on in January, with the likes of Newcastle United and West Ham thought to be interested in the England international.

However, with some of Tottenham’s first-team players not available to start against Liverpool following the Covid-19 outbreak at the club, the 25-year-old took his opportunity in the 2-2 draw against the Reds.

The English midfielder then came off the bench to see out Tottenham’s 2-1 win over West Ham United in the Carabao Cup last night.

Conte praised Alli’s display against the Reds but insisted the midfielder had to string several good performances together to prove that he could be part of his plans.

Romano has now revealed that the former MK Dons’ man’s situation might have changed following his performance against Liverpool.

The journalist said on the latest episode of the Here We Go Podcast (starting at 16.14) that the North Londoners had previously transfer-listed both Alli and Steven Bergwijn.

However, Romano added that both their situations could change before the transfer window opens in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

We have seen some false dawns from Dele at the start of both Jose’s and Nuno’s time at the club. So, it is certainly going to take more than just a couple of good performances for him to convince Conte that he deserves to be part of his plans moving forward.
