Fabrizio Romano claims Spurs have denied interest in 26-year-old PL star

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have distanced themselves from speculation linking the club with a move for Manchester United forward Anthony Martial.

According to reports, Spurs are longtime admirers of Martial and were looking to finally complete a deal for the French international during the summer.

Some sources have claimed that Antonio Conte’s men and their North London rivals Arsenal are both readying offers for the Man Utd star in January.

Martial has struggled for game time at Old Trafford this season and his agent has made it clear (via The Telegraph’s James Ducker) that the forward wants to leave the club.

Romano has now stated on the latest episode of the Here We Go Podcast (starting at 10:47) that the former AS Monaco man could leave Old Trafford next month.

However, he added that Spurs ‘say’ that there is ‘nothing going on’ with Martial.

Spurs Web Opinion

I actually think Martial will be a good fit for Conte’s system. If Spurs are to cash in on Bergwijn, we could do a lot worse than replacing him with the Frenchman.

The Man Utd forward can play across the front three and he can also function as part of a two-man forward line if Conte sometimes decides to employ a 3-5-2.

Martial’s talent is not in question and perhaps it is a fresh start at a different club that he needs to fulfil his potential.
