Fabrizio Romano claims Spurs have two priorities with Harry Kane this summer

Fabrizio Romano has said that Tottenham Hotspur want to keep Harry Kane and have no intention of selling him to another Premier League club this summer.

Even though Spurs look set to miss out on European football altogether next season, there are some reasons for Tottenham fans to be optimistic that Harry Kane could stay.

One of them is the fact that the 29-year-old has continuously reiterated that he will give his input to Daniel Levy this summer regarding what needs to change at the club if they are to close the gap with the best teams in the Premier League (Evening Standard).

Those words are not something that you would expect to hear from a player who has decided to leave.

However, reports continue to indicate that Man Utd are expected to push hard for the England captain, with the Red Devils thought to believe that he can catapult them to a title challenge next season (Football Insider).

However, Romano has now revealed that Spurs want to keep Kane and even if they are unable to do so, another priority for the North London club would be to ensure he does not join a domestic rival.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “The intention is to keep Harry Kane or not to sell Harry Kane to a club in England.

“These are the two priorities for Tottenham right now, so I’m sure it’s not going to be easy for Manchester United to go for Harry Kane.”

The big question for the Tottenham hierarchy is what they would do this summer if Kane refuses to sign a new contract.

I would not be surprised if the striker’s entourage demands any new deal to come with a release clause of around £60m-£80m next summer, which would become active if Spurs miss out on a top-four finish again next season.
