Fabrizio Romano claims Spurs man overlooked by Nuno is ‘loving’ life under Conte

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Harry Winks is loving life at Tottenham Hotspur under Antonio Conte.

It has been a difficult couple of years for Winks, who has become a fringe player at Tottenham and lost his place in the England side.

The 25-year-old started just one Premier League game under Nuno Espirito Santo and some reports suggested that he could be on his way out of the club in January.

After being overlooked by Conte against both Vitesse Arnhem and Everton, Winks was handed a start against Leeds United on Sunday, with Oliver Skipp suspended for the clash.

Conte praised the Spurs academy graduate’s second-half performance in the 2-1 win after his struggles before the interval.

Romano has now said on the latest episode of the Here We Go Podcast (starting at 14:19) that it is not just the big names at Spurs who have been buoyed by Conte’s arrival but also the likes of Winks.

The journalist claimed that he was told the midfielder is thoroughly enjoying working with Conte at Hotspur Way.

Romano also went on to mention how Tottenham now feel that Harry Kane is completely focused on doing well for the club and not thinking about leaving. He asserted that the squad feel they can do something special under the Italian head coach.

Spurs Web Opinion

It was evident from Winks’ first-half performance that he was short of confidence as he appeared scared to make mistakes. However, I was very impressed with how he imposed himself on the game in the second half. I expect him to get another 90 minutes under his belt against Mura on Thursday.
