Fabrizio Romano claims Spurs ‘really close’ to two more signings after Richarlison

Fabrizio Romano has revealed Tottenham are close to completing deals for Middlesbrough wing-back Djed Spence and Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet.

Antonio Conte’s side have been building over the course of the summer, officially announcing three acquisitions as they prepare for next season.

Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster arrived as free transfers after leaving Inter Milan and Southampton respectively, while Yves Bissouma was signed from Brighton to provide more depth in midfield.

Spurs have also sought to improve their forward options with Everton’s Richarlison, having completed a move to North London in a deal worth up to £60 million (The Athletic).

But they appear not to be finished with their latest flurry of business, as Romano claims deals for defenders Spence and Lenglet are on the horizon.

He said during an Instagram Live (30/6/22) broadcast: “The next ones [are] really close. [Clement] Lenglet and Djed Spence.”

Sky Sports revealed Tottenham remain in advanced talks with Middlesbrough to sign Spence, 21, with a transfer fee expected to be in the region of £15 million plus add-ons.

Meanwhile, Spurs are thought to be closing in on a loan deal for Lenglet (Goal) after the Frenchman fell down the Barcelona pecking order under Xavi Hernandez.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham’s business so far has been good as the incoming players all fill into gaps in the squad pretty nicely. It is also good that the moves are getting done early and before pre-season which will allow the players to gel much easier and understand Conte’s system.
