January may be a long way off at this point, but Tottenham Hotspur are still keeping one eye on potential new signings, it seems. One player in the pipeline, potentially, is Sassuolo attacker, Armand Lauriente.
Since the departure of Harry Kane over the summer, Tottenham have been linked with a whole host of different attacking players.
Ultimately, Ange Postecoglou decided against signing a new striker in the summer transfer window. As it stands, Heung-min Son and Richarlison are the players handed the unenviable task of replacing Kane.
Things are going pretty well for Spurs at the moment, but it would be foolish not to at least look around and assess the options on the transfer market.
Armand Lauriente could be one of those options. The French forward has been with Sassuolo for a little over a year now, and bagged seven goals in 28 games in Serie A last season (Transfermarkt).
His agent even told TuttoMercatoWeb this week that Spurs showed interest in Lauriente in the summer.
Spurs have been tracking Lauriente
According to Fabrizio Romano, there has certainly been some interest from Tottenham when it comes to Lauriente.
On the Here We Go podcast, he said: “Asking about if Spurs are still interested in Armand Lauriente. What I can tell you is I think this rumour is around because Tottenham sent their scouts multiple times to watch Italian players in general. They are very active on the Italian market.
“They always follow the Italian market, and this is why their scouts are always keeping an eye on some talents. Lauriente did very well last season for Sassuolo, and he is one of the players Tottenham are following and tracking, but they never made any bid.
“They never started a negotiation, so I can’t confirm that Tottenham are actively working on a move for Armand Lauriente.”
Spurs Web Opinion
We are probably keeping an eye on a vast number of forwards right now. Despite the strong start from Sonny and Richy, Spurs do need to think about signing another out-and-out striker.
We will have to see how Lauriente does this season, as I’d hope for a player who scores at least double figures to be the one leading our attack.
