Fabrizio Romano expects Spurs to make a ‘special’ signing in one key area

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that signing a midfielder is a priority for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, backing the North London club to make a ‘special’ addition in the middle of the park.

Oliver Skipp’s days at Tottenham could be numbered, with Ange Postecoglou seemingly not valuing the Spurs academy graduate, who has struggled for game time this season.

Meanwhile, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg also looks certain to depart Hotspur Way, with the Dane entering the final year of his contract this June (Transfermarkt).

While Swedish sensation Lucas Bergvall will link up with the Spurs squad ahead of the start of next season, the Lilywhites continue to be linked with various other midfielders.

Prime among those is Conor Gallagher, with Tottenham alleged to be keeping a close eye on the Chelsea star’s situation ahead of the summer transfer window (TEAMtalk).

The likes of Atalanta’s Ederson (GiveMeSport) and Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot (HITC) are also rumoured to be on the radar of Postecoglou’s side.

Tottenham are looking for an important midfielder

Romano believes that we might see Tottenham move for a big-name midfielder when the transfer window reopens in June.

The journalist told JD Football: “I see Tottenham signing an important midfielder in the summer, a really important one, I think they want to add something special in that position.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The middle of the park might be the most important area that Postecoglou wants to address in the summer. I am convinced that the overwhelming majority of our budget will be spent on a midfielder (potentially a number six) and a top-class winger.
