Fabrizio Romano explains how Conte situation may impact Harry Kane’s future

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Harry Kane’s future may have been put on the back burner by Tottenham, with the club focusing on resolving the Antonio Conte situation first.

Unsurprisingly, after Conte’s outburst on Saturday, the Tottenham hierarchy are thought to have held a crisis meeting to discuss the Italian’s future at the club (Daily Mail).

Some publications have suggested over the last 24 hours that the North London club have held discussions over parting ways with the 53-year-old immediately and putting Ryan Mason in charge on a temporary basis (Football Insider).

Meanwhile, Some reports over the last week have continued to indicate that Kane is open to signing a new contract with Tottenham if the club manage to finish in the top four this season (GiveMeSport).

However, Romano has now explained that the Lilywhites will not begin talks over a new deal with the striker’s entourage until they have sorted out their managerial situation.

The journalist has told CaughtOffside: “Resolving the Antonio Conte situation and making a decision on the manager’s future is now the top priority for Tottenham.

“Harry Kane talks may have to wait, and will take place in the next months. Tottenham will try to keep him as we mentioned but it’s now time to wait for the new coach and more decisions.

“Despite rumours, I’m not aware of talks with Real Madrid over Kane.

“We’re bound to see him linked with a lot of top clubs in the coming weeks and months because he’s a great player, but there’s nothing concrete now and Tottenham will try to tie him down to a new contract.”

I believe that Conte’s future has become untenable after his outburst.

Whatever one thinks about the Italian’s time at the club, it is now clear that he has lost the dressing room and the players cannot be expected to play for him any longer.

So, the club have no choice but to pull the plug on the project immediately to improve the teams’ chances of finishing in the top four.
