Fabrizio Romano explains what is now holding up Van de Ven deal for Spurs

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham have not yet been able to meet Wolfsburg’s valuation of Micky van de Ven.

There have been some positive updates regarding Spurs‘ pursuit of Van de Ven in the last 24 hours, with The Daily Mail reporting that the Lilywhites have held positive talks with Wolfsburg over the centre-back and are increasingly hopeful of striking a deal for the Dutch Under-21 international.

This was also backed up by The Evening Standard, who asserted that Tottenham are now ‘closing in’ on a £30m deal for the centre-back.

Distance remains between parties for Van de Ven

However, Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that there is still a distance between what Tottenham are willing to offer and the fee Wolfsburg are demanding for Van de Ven.

He explained that Spurs sent a proposal of €40m (£34.4m) plus €5m (£4.3m) in add-ons for the centre-back while the Bundesliga side are demanding a total package of €50m (£43m) with easier add-ons.

Romano added that Tottenham will also continue to work on a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba.

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that Spurs have seemingly halted their pursuit of Tosin Adarabioyo, suggests that they might be looking to sign both Van de Ven and Taspoba. That could potentially indicate that they expect Kane’s move to Bayern to go through.
