Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to finalise a decision on their next sporting director over the coming days.
Multiple outlets over the past two weeks have claimed that Spurs are now prioritising appointing a sporting director and will resume their search for a new head coach once the top position is filled (Daily Mirror).
On Tuesday, Alasdair Gold revealed via Football.London that despite what has been reported recently, Brentford sporting director Lee Dykes and 777 Partners’ Johannes Spors are not in contention to replace Fabio Paratici.
The journalist claimed that Roma’s Tiago Pinto and ex-Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Tim Steidten are on Tottenham’s wishlist, alongside another ‘unnamed leading candidate’.
Romano has now backed up the same information, stating that Spors is no longer in talks with Spurs as he does not fit with the club’s vision for the role while Steidten very much remains in contention.
The Italian also added that the North London club’s hierarchy are expected to make a decision on the appointment in the coming days before advancing their search for a new manager.

Spurs Web Opinion
While Pinto is thought of very highly by industry insiders, I am not sure if the Portuguese director would be a good fit for Spurs.
If the club are serious about their promise of wanting to return to the Tottenham DNA and playing attacking football, that must be reflected in their choice of director as he will be the man tasked with the next few managerial hires.
