Fabrizio Romano gives update on Tottenham’s pursuit of Dusan Vlahovic

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to track Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic ahead of the January transfer window.

Over the last few weeks, speculation linking Vlahovic with a move to Spurs has continued to grow, with reports from Italy suggesting that Tottenham are ‘crazy’ for the Serbian international.

Calciomercato.it even claimed last week that Spurs were in talks with the Fiorentina striker’s entourage over personal terms ahead of a transfer.

However, Fabio Paratici poured cold water on the speculation earlier this week by insisting that the 21-year-old is not in Tottenham’s plans.

Romano has now said on the latest episode of the Here We Go Podcast (starting at 19:30) that despite Paratici’s claim, Vlahovic continues to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Romano revealed that the centre-forward was Tottenham main striker target over the summer, with the club wanting him as a backup to Harry Kane.

The journalist added that Spurs could face plenty of competition for the Viola star, with Atletico Madrid and few Italian clubs also keen on his signature.

Finally, Romano also asserted that Vlahovic will leave the Artemio Franchi Stadium, with the only question being whether a transfer will happen in January or next summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

It goes without saying that one should not take Paratici’s public statements at face value as it would be counter-productive for the Italian to reveal who Tottenham’s transfer targets are. I personally do not expect us to spend big on a centre-forward in January. So, any deal for Vlahovic will likely have to wait until the summer.
