Fabrizio Romano has never heard that manager is on Tottenham’s shortlist

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur will not turn their attention to Ruud van Nistelrooy as they continue to search for a new manager.

Tottenham are looking for a new permanent manager yet again, after parting ways with Antonio Conte at the end of March.

Since then, Conte’s former assistant Cristian Stellini lasted just four games before being sacked.

Now, Ryan Mason is the Acting Head Coach of Tottenham until the end of the season. The young coach is expected to have just one more game as interim manager before a full-time appointment is made.

Spurs have already been looking at the Netherlands for options, with Arne Slot being a top contender for the vacancy before financial compensation is thought to have got in the way (talkSPORT).

The hunt for a new manager is verging on farcical at this stage with a new name entering the fray, but according to Romano on the House of Champions Podcast, van Nistelrooy is not an option.

Van Nistelrooy has left his post at PSV recently, after less than a year in charge. The fact the highly-rated coach is now unemployed could make him a prime target for Spurs.

But, Romano thinks otherwise. He said: “To be honest, I have never heard his name on Tottenham’s list, so I’m not sure they will be going for Ruud van Nistelrooy, at Tottenham now it is busy after the Arne Slot story, they have to find a new manager, they will take a few days to explore a few other options.”

I don’t think van Nistelrooy has done enough as a manager yet to warrant getting the Spurs job, and I hope we don’t consider him at this stage.

He will be a top manager in years to come, but we need to see a lot more from him to know what he is capable of.
