Fabrizio Romano makes claim regarding Spurs’ rumoured pursuit of Diego Carlos

Fabrizio Romano has asserted that, as thing stand, Tottenham Hotspur do not stand a chance of completing the signing of Diego Carlos from Sevilla.

With little over 24 hours left until the transfer window shuts, Tottenham now finally appear to be on the verge of making their first signing, with Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski reportedly flying to London to complete a move (Fabrizio Romano).

The North London club are also allegedly looking to strengthen their midfield department with the acquisition of Rodrigo Bentancur (Gianluca Di Marzio).

TuttoMercatoWeb journalist Marco Conterio revealed on Saturday that Spurs are also hoping to get a deal for Carlos over the line before Monday’s deadline.

The journalist claimed that Antonio Conte’s side are prepared to offer Giovani Lo Celso to Sevilla as part of the deal to bring the Brazilian to North London.

However, this has now been denied by Romano, who stated that Sevilla consider Carlos to be ‘untouchable’.

He added that sources from the La Liga club ‘guarantee’ that the centre-back will be staying put at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Spurs manage to offload Ndombele and Dele while bringing in both Kulusevski and Bentancour, that would represent a reasonably successful transfer window.

Ideally, I would have liked to see a right wing-back brought in as well but I always suspected that we were likely to put off our pursuit of a centre-back until the summer.
