Fabrizio Romano makes five claims about Harry Kane’s situation at Spurs

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that Harry Kane has not handed in a transfer request to Tottenham despite claims to the contrary in the press.

There has been plenty of speculation about Kane’s future over recent months but the rumours have intensified over the last few days since Sky Sports first broke the story that the striker had reiterated his intention to leave to the club’s hierarchy.

However, the likes of Football.London’s Alasdair Gold and The Athletics’ Jack Pitt-Brooke have suggested that neither Tottenham nor Kane’s situation has changed recently.

Fabrizio Romano has now backed that up by stating that while the England captain does desire to leave Spurs this summer, the North London club have no intention to sell.

The journalist claimed that the 27-year-old will refuse any new contract offered by the club and also asserted that Manchester City’s interest in the Tottenham star is ‘serious’.

Spurs Web Opinion

Daniel Levy is rightly criticised for a lot of things by a section of Spurs fans but one thing the Spurs chairman cannot be accused of is not standing his ground and fighting hard to keep the club’s stars.

Levy knows his popularity has taken a huge hit due to the failed Jose Mourinho experiment and the European Super League debacle. So, I do not think there is any chance of him allowing Kane to join a domestic rival this summer no matter the fee.

If Kane is to leave this summer, he is going to have to do ‘a Berbatov’ and force himself out which I do not see him doing. The most likely scenario (if we show no signs of improvement next season) is that Kane will leave next summer for around £80m.
