Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Yan Diomande’s future and has revealed how serious Tottenham’s interest in the player is.
The Leipzig winger has been heavily linked with a move to N17 over recent weeks, with reports indicating that Spurs held talks with Diomande about a January transfer.
However, Tottenham were always facing plenty of competition for the £87m Bundesliga starlet, who has become one of the most sought-after young wingers around Europe.
Over recent days, we have heard reports suggesting that Diomande is unlikely to leave Leipzig in January, with the player prepared to assess his options in the summer.

Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Spurs did make a serious attempt to land the Ivory Coast international this window.
However, the journalist revealed that Leipzig have now made it clear that the 19-year-old will not be leaving the Red Bull Arena before the end of the month.
Romano has said on his YouTube channel: “The message from Leipzig is that Diomande will not leave the club in the January window. Eventually, in the summer, it’s going to be a different story, because Man Utd, PSG and Bayern Munich are sending their people to follow him.
“Tottenham already tried in this January window, and it was not possible. So there’s going to be plenty of interest in Diomande, one of the most interesting wingers in the market right now. But, for January, Leipzig want to continue with the player.”

It has been reported that Tottenham have shortlisted as many as seven wingers across Europe and are prepared to be flexible in who they target.
Now that Diomande is seemingly out of the picture, the Lilywhites are expected to turn their attention to a Ligue 1 starlet.
