Fabrizio Romano offers update on Kane’s future and new contract rumours

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that we can expect to learn Tottenham’s final stance regarding Harry Kane next week.

The Kane transfer saga has been dragging on for several months and, with contradictory claims being made by different sources, there still remains a big question mark over whether the striker will be at Spurs at the end of the month.

Romano has now explained the latest developments regarding Kane in an interview with City Xtra’s Youtube channel.

The journalist explained (at 15.30 in the video) that City are still hopeful of striking a deal for the England captian and the 28-year-old remains the Premier League champions’ only striker target.

He revealed that the North London club are already looking at potential replacements for Kane but they still hope to change the striker’s mind and keep him at the club.

Romano describes the negotiations as a ‘poker game’ between the two clubs and adds that Spurs might give City ‘a final answer’ next week.

Some rumours have emerged over the last couple of days that Kane is not completely opposed to signing a new contract with the Lilywhites.

When asked about a potential new contract for Kane, Romano said (at 19.17 in the interview) that while the parties are not discussing a new contract at the moment, the situation could change if the striker stays.

He said that Daniel Levy is open to offering the England captain a new deal if the striker changes his mind and decides to stay at Spurs.

I have a feeling that the negotiations between Spurs and City for Kane will accelerate after the game on Sunday. I expect us to bring a couple of strikers in before eventually announcing the 28-year-old’s sale.
