Fabrizio Romano plays down talks of huge £80m price tag for Tottenham target

Fabrizio Romano has said that Wolves have not set any price for rumoured Tottenham target Pedro Neto yet and are only expected to do so closer to the summer window.

It has been widely reported over the last couple of weeks that Tottenham and Arsenal are expected to battle it out for Neto’s signature next summer (The Sun), with some publications claiming that the winger is expected to cost around £60m (The Standard).

David Ornstein suggested in a Q&A session on The Athletic last week that Gary O’Neil’s men could even demand a whopping £80m for their star man when the transfer window opens in June.

A couple of days ago, journalist Ben Jacobs confirmed on GiveMeSport that the Portuguese star is indeed on Tottenham’s radar but he suggested that Wolves’ asking price is around £10m to £15m more than what the Lilywhites and other clubs would be willing to pay for the player.

Pedro Neto price tag is unknown at the moment

Romano has now insisted that talks of a price tag for Neto are premature but the journalist backed more clubs to enter the fray for the winger’s signature over the next few months.

When asked about Neto, he told CaughtOffisde: “I have no indication yet on asking price, too early. Wolves will discuss that closer to the summer.

“But I’m sure there will be many clubs interested in Neto, he’s being scouted regularly by many clubs and he can do special things in the future. So he will be one of the names of the summer.”

A lot of media publications and journalists are overestimating the prices that players are going to fetch next summer. With the Premier League now strictly implementing the Profit and Sustainability rules, we are going to see transfer fees continuing to drop over the next few windows.
