Fabrizio Romano provides another Nico Paz dagger for Tottenham after transfer links

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Nico Paz’s destination next summer has already become clear after Tottenham’s proposal for the Como midfielder was turned down in the recent transfer window.

During the summer transfer window, it was reported that Spurs had a €40m (£34.6m) offer for Nico Paz rejected by Como.

Some sources even claimed that Tottenham were ready to pay €70m (£60.7m) for Paz as they were extremely keen on landing the Argentine international.

However, the Lilywhites failed to get a deal over the line for the Como man, instead securing Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, and it has now emerged that the Premier League side may not get another opportunity to land Paz.

Nico Paz is on his way to Real Madrid after Tottenham bid

Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that the midfielder rejected the option to join Spurs in the summer, even though the North Londoners were ready to pay £60m.

He explains that Real Madrid pushed Paz to reject Tottenham’s advances and made it clear to him that they want him back in the future.

Los Blancos have a £10m buy-back option for the 21-year-old next summer, which they plan to activate, and the expectation is that they will also compensate Como for the lost transfer fee.

Romano is confident that the Argentina international will be a Real Madrid player next summer.

Como director says Tottenham never made an offer for Paz

Como sporting director Carlalberto Ludi said last week that Tottenham never substantiated their interest in Paz with a written offer.

He also made it clear that the attacking midfielder never wanted to leave the Serie A club this summer.

On the back of Romano’s latest report, it looks like Tottenham’s hopes of landing Paz are over, unless there is a dramatic change of heart among the Santiago Bernabeu hierarchy.
