Fabrizio Romano provides January update on Spurs and Alessandro Bastoni

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Inter Milan will not sell reported Tottenham target Alessandro Bastoni during the January transfer window.

Spurs failed with a move for Bastoni during the summer (Football.London) but over recent weeks, the North Londoners have been backed to try to sign the Inter star in the future.

Inter Live reported last month that Spurs will reignite their pursuit of the centre-back next summer and claimed that the Lilywhites are ready to pay €50m (£43.7m) for the 23-year-old’s services.

Fichajes also backed up Tottenham’s interest in Bastoni, but they claimed Antonio Conte’s men could face competition from Manchester City and Real Madrid for the Italy international.

Alasdair Gold suggested on his YouTube channel a couple of weeks ago that Inter are unlikely to sell the centre-back in January and suggested that a move could be on the cards for him next summer.

Romano has now confirmed that the Nerazzurri have no intention of letting Bastoni go mid-season.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “They’re (Tottenham) looking for a centre-back because, in that position, they probably need a new player in January.

“I have seen a lot of links with Alessandro Bastoni, but I’m told that Inter are not open to letting him go in January.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Spurs will make a move for the likes of Bastoni, Gvardiol or Torres in January as a left-sided centre-back will not be a priority for Conte.

However, I do expect the North Londoners to potentially reignite their interest in the Inter star next summer. I believe Tottenham will explore a deal for Bastoni even if he signs a new contract at the San Siro before the end of the season.
