Fabrizio Romano provides Kim Min-jae update amid Spurs and Man Utd links

Fabrizio Romano has revealed on his YouTube Channel (starting at 3:48) that Manchester United have now opened talks with Kim Min-Jae’s camp regarding a potential summer transfer.

Tottenham are thought to be one of several Premier League clubs eyeing a move for Kim this summer, with 90 min reporting earlier this month that the Napoli centre-back is on the radar of the Lilywhites, as well as Man Utd and Liverpool.

The report added that Napoli have not lost hope of tying down the South Korean to a new contract.

Romano has now explained that Kim does have a release clause of just under €50m (£43.3) in his current deal in Naples but that clause will only become active at the beginning of July.

The journalist revealed that the Serie A champions are trying to tie the centre-back down to a new deal in order to remove the clause but have not been successful in doing so yet.

Romano adds that Man Utd are ‘really interested’ in the player, having followed him since last September and asserts that the Red Devils are the favourites to land the 26-year-old this summer.

The journalist states that while Erik Ten Hag’s men are now speaking to Kim’s camp, the deal is far from done just yet.

Spurs Web Opinion

I doubt whether it would be possible for Tottenham to beat Man Utd to Kim’s signature, given that we do not have any European football to offer.

Spurs might perhaps be hoping that Son would be able to persuade his compatriot to move to N17 but that feels like a longshot at the moment.
