Fabrizio Romano provides positive contract update of in-form Spurs star

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Son Heung-min is close to signing a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur.

The South Korean has taken his game to a new level this season and has been earning rave reviews for his performances.

He produced another outstanding run and finish to send Tottenham on their way to a 2-0 win in the North London derby on Sunday against Arsenal.

The goal against Arsenal was the 28-year-old’s tenth Premier League goal of the season in eleven matches, which leaves him just one behind Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the race for the golden boot.

News that Tottenham are working to tie Son down to a new contract first emerged in October, while The Athletic revealed towards the end of last month that the forward will imminently sign a new deal.

Romano has now become the latest source to confirm the news after he revealed in his latest episode of Here We Go Podcast that the Spurs forward is ‘close’ to putting pen to paper on a new contract at North London.

He said: “There are good feelings to seeing Son extend his contract with Tottenham. It’s really close to an agreement. It’s not done yet, so we have to wait before saying ‘here we go!’ but the agreement is getting closer, probably a five or six-year deal. Everybody in this deal wants to sign the new contract. Son is so happy with Tottenham. The new contract is coming in some weeks.”
