Fabrizio Romano provides transfer update on Tottenham’s Giovani Lo Celso

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Villarreal want to sign Giovani Lo Celso on a permanent deal from Tottenham, but the North London club are still waiting for a proposal to be presented to them.

Lo Celso joined Villarreal on loan during the January transfer window, having struggled to break into the Spurs fold under Antonio Conte.

The Argentine midfielder has shone for the LaLiga side with one of his latest displays earning him the Man of the Match award as he helped his team earn a 1-0 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

And Romano states Villarreal have been so impressed with Lo Celso that they plan to keep him around beyond the summer on a permanent deal. However, the Italian journalist added that Spurs have not received an offer for the 25-year-old as of yet.

Romano told the Here We Go Podcast (11/04/22): “Tottenham are still waiting for Villarreal to make an official proposal. From what I’m told, they want to discuss on Villarreal’s side with Tottenham to sign Lo Celso on a permanent deal.”

At present, it does seem like Lo Celso won’t be returning to Spurs given how well he has been doing away from the club. If Villarreal really want to keep him around for longer then they should submit a proposal, but the next issue is whether they will be able to afford him.
