Fabrizio Romano provides update on Kim Min-jae amid Spurs and Man Utd links

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United remain interested in a deal for rumoured Tottenham target, Kim Min-jae but the Red Devils have not come close to striking a deal for the Napoli star just yet.

Kim has arguably been the standout defender in the Serie A this season despite this being his first season in Italian football.

The South Korean’s solid displays have been the main reason why Luciano Spalletti‘s men boast such an impressive defensive record, which in turn has been one of the main pillars of their Scudetto success.

Unsurprisingly, Kim’s displays have reportedly caught the attention of Premier League clubs, including Spurs, with 90 min reporting last week that the North London club have sent scouts to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium to watch the defender in action this season.

The report added that Tottenham are ‘long-term admirers’ of the centre-back but they could face competition from the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool for the player.

Romano has now taken to social media to indicate that the Red Devils have not made much progress in their pursuit of Kim, whose future remains open.

The journalist added that Napoli are continuing to make efforts to tie the 26-year-old down to a new deal.

I do not think Tottenham stand any chance of winning the race for Kim’s signature, given that we look set to miss out on the Champions League as well as the Europa League.

Having tasted success this season, the centre-back would probably only leave Naples for a club that can challenge for major honours next season.
