Fabrizio Romano provides update on Director of Football role at Spurs

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham are currently exploring the possibility of bringing in a Director of Football this summer, as well as a new head coach.

The transfer expert talked a lot in his interview with Chris Cowlin about the rebuild going on in North London, claiming that the new manager will have to be on the same page as the club.

Romano even claimed that Spurs have been talking with certain people about potentially adding someone new into the board.

However, he added that this new Director of Football would also have to be on the same page as Daniel Levy, the new head coach and Steve Hitchen, implying that the latter would not be replaced. Hitchen is the current Director of Technical Performance at Tottenham.

Tottenham have not had a Director of Football since Franco Baldini left the club back in 2015, having worked in the position for just a couple of years.

Romano said (10 mins onwards): “The position of the Director of Football will be important, to see if they will go with someone new.

“I am told that they are exploring this kind of opportunity so talking with people who have an opportunity for something new on the board.

“But, it will be important to be on the same page, Daniel Levy, the Director of Football, Hitchen and also the new manager. So they want to build something new with this structure.”
