Fabrizio Romano provides update on future of Spurs-linked Franck Kessie

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that rumoured Tottenham target Franck Kessie is yet to make a final decision regarding his future despite Barcelona expressing an interest in the AC Milan man.

Kessie’s contract at the San Siro runs out at the end of the current season (Transfermarkt), which means the midfielder is now allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement with non-Italian clubs ahead of a free transfer in the summer.

Spurs reportedly tried to snap up Kessie during the January transfer window but the Ivory Coast international is thought to have turned them down, preferring to wait until the summer to leave Milan (CalcioMeracto).

Sportitalia TV journalist Gianluigi Longari claimed last month that Barcelona had reached a verbal agreement with the 25-year-old over a free transfer in the summer. He added that the agreement could be formalised by the Catalan giants in the weeks ahead.

However, Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that Kessie has not yet decided where his future lies next season and that the race for the Milan star remains very much open.

If Kessie is available on a free transfer, one would hope that Fabio Paratici is pulling all stops to bring the Ivorian to Spurs in the summer, given that he would instantly improve our starting eleven.

Just as the Traore and Diaz deals in January, the Milan star might reject Tottenham in favour of other clubs. However, one would certainly expect the Spurs hierarchy to at least be in the race for his signature.
