Fabrizio Romano provides update on Nagelsmann amid Spurs and Chelsea links

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that contacts between Chelsea and Julian Nageslmann are now continuing today regarding the managerial vacancy at Stamford Bridge.

Reports over the last two weeks have suggested that Nageslmann shot up to the top of Tottenham’s shortlist after he parted ways with Bayern Munich (Football Insider), but since sacking Graham Potter, Chelsea are thought to have moved ahead of Spurs in the race for the German (Christian Falk).

Romano revealed YouTube channel a couple of days that Chelsea have contacted the recently departed Bayern boss and that they are keen to appoint him ‘immediately’ rather than wait till the end of the season.

The journalist added that Nagelsman is ‘already considering the option’ and asked some of the people close to him about the club and the project at Stamford Bridge.

Romano has now taken to social media to provide another update on the Blues’ pursuit of the 35-year-old, remarking that the two sides are continuing to speak before making a definitive decision.

He also added that another one of Spurs rumoured managerial targets, Luis Enrique (The Athletic), is also on Chelsea’s wishlist.

It has been reported that Enrique has actually flown to London for a second round of talks with the Blues (Independent), although the same has not been reported of Nagelsmann.

However, The Telegraph state that Chelsea will still speak with as many as five candidates before choosing their next head coach.

Spurs Web Opinion

The current turmoil at Tottenham after the Paratici fiasco means that the club’s search for a new manager has been severely handicapped.

Even if Spurs were to approach the likes of Nagelsmann or Kompany, they would be hesitant to commit without some clarity on what the club’s structure will look like.
