Fabrizio Romano provides update on Spurs manager search – Including Pochettino

Fabrizio Romano has revealed on his YouTube channel that Tottenham Hotspur are not in advanced negotiations with any new manager to replace Antonio Conte at the moment.

Reports had indicated over the last couple of weeks that while Fabio Paratici had already begun looking for Conte’s replacement, Spurs were planning on sticking with the Italian until his contract ran out at the end of the season (Daily Mail).

However, the 53-year-old’s stunning outburst in the post-match press conference after his side’s 3-3 draw at Southampton has brought his future into sharp focus once again, with Conte accusing the Tottenham players of being selfish (Football.London).

Romano has now explained that it was because of the issues that Conte had with the Spurs players’ attitude that he did not negotiate a new deal with the club either before or after the World Cup.

He explained that the feeling is the Tottenham head coach wants to return to Italy at the end of the season while the Lilywhites hierarchy also want to go in a new direction.

The journalist added that we will have to wait and see what Daniel Levy decides to do following Conte’s rant on Saturday.

However, Romano insisted that ‘nothing is advanced’ regarding Mauricio Pochettino or any other coach as the Spurs chairman is yet to make a final decision.

Even if Spurs are yet to finalise who replaces Conte, the Tottenham head coach has given the club no choice but to sack him and put Ryan Mason in charge on a temporary basis.

The Italian would have most definitely lost the dressing room with his public outburst after the 3-3 draw if he had not done so already.
